There are over 75,000 uninsured children living in Tarrant County. Lack of insurance coverage is a significant barrier to accessing needed health care. The UNT Health Science Center Pediatric Mobile Clinic will provide high-quality health care to children living in the underserved areas of Fort Worth.
Families often experience barriers to health care access, including financial hardship, lack of transportation, language barriers, unaffordable costs, and lack of insurance coverage. These needs often are accompanied by social distress regarding food, clothing, and shelter. The Pediatric Mobile Clinic will address both the health and social services needs of these children at no cost to their families.
Starting in April 2014, the Pediatric Mobile Clinic will travel to schools, community centers, churches, and community organizations throughout Fort Worth. The Pediatric Mobile Clinic will help families overcome the barriers to health care access by providing health care onboard a state-of-the-art mobile medical unit.
