Software Requests

To request software for your computer or iPad please email the Software Request Office with the following information...

  • Computer Asset Tag Number (ex. 35123, can be found on the UNTHSC barcode)
  • Name of the user and department
  • Name and version Software requested
  • Billing ID number
  • Contact number

Site Licensed Software

UNT Health Science Center has licenses to install the following software on university owned computers... 

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Microsoft Lync
  • Microsoft Visio
  • McAfee Anti-Virus (Login Required)
  • SPSS
  • SAS

Reduced Price Software

UNT Health Science Center employees can purchase one copy of Microsoft Office 2013 and one copy of Microsoft Office 2011 for personal use at a reduced cost. Please contact the helpdesk for information on how to purchase these items online.

Student Software

Students can purchase copies of certain programs at a reduced rate by visiting unthsc.onthehub.com.

Apple Software

iPad Apps (Purchased with state/local funds)

UNTHSC participates in the Apple Volume Purchase Program which allows our institution to purchase iOS apps and books in volume, tax exempt, and distribute them to faculty, staff, and students.  

To purchase iOS apps tax exempt using state or local funds, do the following:

Email softwarerequest@unthsc.edu with

-The name of the app(s) needed

-Inventory number of the iPad(s)

-DeptID to charge

You will receive confirmation that the apps have been purchased on your behalf.


To redeem the code(s) for apps purchased through the Apple Volume Purchase Program:

On a computer:

1. Copy the code from the email from the HelpDesk.

2. Open iTunes.

3. In the left column, select iTunes Store.

4. Log in to your iTunes account.

5. On the right side, scroll down to the very bottom and click on Redeem, located under Manage.

6. Paste in your code and click Redeem.

7. Enter your iTunes password, if prompted.

8. You should see a message saying your application is now downloading.

9. Click Done.

Repeat steps 5 through 9 for each code (there is a different code per purchase per app).

On an iPad:

1. Copy the code from the email from the HelpDesk.

2. Open the App Store.

3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the main screen (Featured).

4. Tap Redeem.

5. Paste in your code and tap Redeem in the upper right hand corner.

6. Enter your iTunes password, if prompted.

7. You should see a message saying your application is now downloading.

8. Click Done.

Repeat steps 4 through 9 for each code (there is a different code per purchase per app).
