OBGYN Resident Robotics

Welcome to the UNT Health Science Center resident robotic webpage for gynecologic robotic surgery.  Several years ago our primary hospital obtained 2 daVinci S surgical systems.  First approved in 2005 for gynecologic surgery, the system has been an important part of urology resident training for years before that.  In 2007 we began using the system for gynecologic surgery.  Our gyn oncologists, like many others, have used it extensively since.  The system is now being used for many different procedures, such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, sacralcolpopexy and others.

The training for the daVinci system requires online didactics, practical set-up training and a porcine wet lab prior to several proctored cases in order to obtain privileges at most hospitals.  This has created time and expense issues for many training programs, including ours.  In order to safely and competently train our residents on the system, we decided to create an extensive training program.  The curriculum was created as part of the APGO Scholars and Leaders Program as my educational project. 

The information and downloads on this website are for our residents to help their progression through the curriculum.  They are available for all to use or modify for their own programs if so desired.
