Recycling: More Than Being Green
Help Kids by Recycling Old Greeting Cards
For three months, the Office of Sustainability in Facilities Management will be collecting old and used greeting cards to donate to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. St. Jude’s Ranch cares for abused, abandoned, and neglected children and has locations in Nevada and Texas. The cards will be resold and repurposed as a fundraising strategy for the ranch and to provide the children with a sense of accomplishment and a work ethic that carries on to adulthood.
When the ranch receives the cards, the front is removed, and the kids glue a new cover to the back with a signature from the child who assembled it.
How to DONATE:
We will be collecting cards from November 1st to January 31st. All sentiment types are accepted although they cannot accept cards from Hallmark, Disney, or American Greeting. You can put your donated cards in the cell phone slot of the Recycling 2.0 receptacles located in the MET near Four Star Café or in the Library 2nd floor by the café. You can also send them by campus mail to “Facilities Management Room 110”. While recycling your cards is good, repurposing them for a great cause is better, so help the St. Jude’s kids by donating your cards!
