Vehicle Registration
A parking permit does not guarantee a parking space, but allows parking if a space is available. Each vehicle operator is responsible for finding a legal space in the parking area designated by the permit they possess. Lack of space is not a valid excuse for violating any parking regulation. |
The UNTHSC Police Department is proud to offer a 20% discount on parking fees to drivers of low emission and fuel efficient vehicles. Low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles are defined as vehicles that are either classified as Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) by the California Air Resources Board or have achieved a minimum green score of 40 on the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) annual vehicle-rating guide. **The discount is honored when the yearly parking permit fee is paid in full. The discount is not available for employees with Payroll Deduction. |
Parking permits can be purchased at the UNTHSC Police Department Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Parking permits are valid from September 1 through August 31 of the following year. |
Replacement parking permits are available for an additional fee of $5.00 if the original is lost, damaged, defective or stolen. An additional permit may be purchased for a second vehicle as long as it is registered to the same household; however, only one vehicle at a time may be parked on campus. (It will be an automatic cancellation of parking privileges if additional parking permits are purchased and then given or sold to someone other than the purchasing party). |
Temporary employees, contractors, consultants, or others, who are not regular employees or students, are allowed to park temporarily on campus after they have obtained a temporary parking permit. Temporary parking permits are valid for one week and are free of charge. If a person needs a permit for longer than one week, they must purchase a temporary parking permit for a month, for a fee of $15.00. To avoid any problems, all departments are requested to notify temporary employees of this arrangement. |
Parking areas for motorcycles are provided in the West garage for faculty and in the East Garage for staff and students. |
Bicycles are exempt from parking fees but must be parked in designated bicycle racks. |
