In vitro Techniques
Immunological and Microbiological Services
UNTHSC Pre-Clinical Services currently offers the following procedures. Additional procedures can be developed and validated to meet the individual requirements of the sponsor.
In vitro antibacterial evaluations including minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) determinations as well as time-kill curves.
Flow Cytometry, Laser Capture Microdissection, & Fluorescence Microscopy
Various services include those for cell analysis, cell sorting, tissue LC microdissection, and fluorescence imaging. For detailed instrument capabilities, see http://web.unthsc.edu/departments/mbi/FlowCytometryandLaserCapture.
Serum samples from various rodent disease models are measured for total immunoglobulin and isotype profiles.
Serum samples are quantitatively profiled for cytokine production within a number of rodent disease models.
In vitro methods quantitatively determine phenotypic variation and drug efficacy for gram-positive and gram-negative biofilms.
Cosmetic samples are screened for microbial contamination through FDA approved guidelines.
Techniques include PCR, cloning, transformation, and transposon mutagenesis. Advanced techniques are available upon request.
Additional or specialized services can be provided at the request of a sponsor.
