Community Engagement

Outreach and Volunteerism

As an institution of students, faculty, health care providers and staff, the UNT Health Science Center is an active member of the North Texas community. We are volunteers, speakers, sponsors, and hosts for lectures and forums that help engage, educate, and support people of all ages at all stages of health. We want our Alumni to have access to volunteer and participate at greater levels as we provide these vital services.

Cowtown Marathon

The UNT Health Science Center founded and remains a partner of Fort Worth's largest running event. Each February, we provide medical staff, course volunteers and leadership input. Alumni interested in improving the physical activity levels of families across the nation can work, run, and promote this initiative.

North Texas Health Forum

This annual public health summit combines research and community interaction to address pressing disease state issues like asthma, alcohol abuse, infant mortality, childhood obesity and more. This forum has generated innovative solutions addressing gaps in health services. Alumni interested may attend, contribute research, speak or promote this initiative.

Health Disparities Conference

This conference is an annual scientific and clinically based event that combines research and community interaction to delve deeper into specific diseases that show high cultural, age, or treatment disparities. Alumni are encouraged to attend, act as panelists, and support the university in their efforts to eliminate health and care disparities.

Hispanic Wellness Fair

UNTHSC provides medical staff, volunteers, and leadership input for this annual event, a culturally specific and sensitive health fair serving thousands of people in the Fort Worth community.

Research Appreciation Day

A UNT Health Science Center tradition, Research Appreciation Day provides an unforgettable experience for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to showcase their quality research. Alumni may present their research at this one-day event or serve as judges to determine the student prizes.
