Non-Renewal Notices and Terminal Faculty Contracts

1.  Please begin by reading the Faculty Bylaws Article VII-Reappointment of Faculty regarding notification 
     periods and other guidelines for non-renewal notices/terminal contracts for faculty.

2.  Department Chair should route the draft notice to the Dean for the Dean to route through the UNT System Office  
     of General Counsel.  The Dean should copy the Provost and VP of Administration so that they are also aware  of
     the request prior in case there are any questions that come up during legal review.

3.  The final non-renewal notice to the faculty member should always include a copy to the Office of the Provost and 
     the Office of Faculty Affairs.

Please note:  All notices must go through legal review and approval.
